8 Healthy Breakfast Toast Topping Ideas (Gluten and Nut-Free)

We are big fans of breakfast around the 88 Acres office, especially toasts loaded up with delicious toppings. So when #ToastTuesday rolls around every week we make a point to celebrate and our Instagram community has joined the party.

1. Strawberry Swirl

What's better than toast smothered in seed butter? Toast smothered in two kinds of seed butter! This slice starts with Pumpkin Seed Butter and Vanilla Spice Sunflower Seed Butter and then brings it up one more notch with the addition of dried strawberries, adding a tangy flavor and chewy texture that complements the creamy butters and banana perfectly.

2. Sweet Potato Stack

This toast right here is not messing around. Crisp your slice until it's 'well-done' to accommodate all these awesome layers. Spread mashed cinnamon sweet potato all over, then add a layer of yogurt (don't worry if it starts to run down the sides). Top with banana coins and a crumbled Apple Ginger Craft Seed Bar for an epic breakfast that will keep you satisfied until lunch. 

3. Yogurt Masterpiece

There's a slice of toast under there somewhere, promise! This creation starts with sprouted sourdough bread, toasted 'extra-crispy' to hold up all these luscious toppings. Next, vanilla yogurt is piled on with a big swirl of Vanilla Spice Seed Butter. Sprinkle on some chocolate dipped chia seeds and then top it off with juicy fresh blueberries. Yum!

5. Roasted & Toasted

Why chop your fruit when you can roast the whole thing? To achieve this texture and color, dust a thick slice of pear with cinnamon (and collagen if you're into that) and pan roast it with a bit of ghee. Lay it in the pan and leave it alone for 2-3 minutes so it has a chance to create a caramelized crust. This would also work great with an apple or banana. Rest it on top of a crispy slice of bread topped with a generous smear of Vanilla Spice Seed Butter and dots of yogurt (or yogurt alternative).  

6. Sweet and Sticky

Put on the apron for this one, cause it's about to get messy. While these ingredients are simple, the flavor is decadent and the texture is ultra-satisfying. Smear a dollop of Pumpkin Seed Butter on your slice, top with layered banana coins, sunflower seeds and a (big) drizzle of pure maple syrup. Breakfast or dessert, this one's a winner.

7. Gettin' Figgy

This is one of the most creative and elegant flavor combinations we've discovered so far. Crispy rye toast topped with a few spoonfuls of Pumpkin Seed Butter, a pool of balsamic vinegar and sweet fresh figs. If you have access to fresh figs, give this one a try! Your tastebuds will thank you.
